When looking into the future, a company has three bottom lines:
environmental, economic, and social. Clearly none of them are
independent. Any facility that is maintained with an eye towards the
future must keep all three of these considerations in mind when
making decisions to ensure sustainability.
Knowing this, we clean for green. What does this mean? It means
using a cleaning process that is green—cleaning for health, not just
appearance.
We start with the basics: we use a limited number of Green Seal
certified chemicals in our cleaning so that closets are never overflowing with chemicals. This also makes it easy to ensure proper safety documentation.
All the chemicals used in our cleaning process have low toxicity to
ensure the safety of our cleaning crew. (Click here to learn more about
USSI's Safety Program.)
But using Green Seal chemicals is only the beginning. At USSI, we wanted our entire cleaning process to be green. The next step was to make the tools themselves green. We use washable, reusable surgical rags (huck towels) and micro fiber mops—this reduces the amount of trash created by using paper towels (one time use).
USSI has also abandoned the outmoded upright vacuum for backpack vacuums, which use high-efficiency filters to capture microscopic materials, reducing indoor air pollutants and increase overall air quality. Backpack vacuums are also far more ergonomic. (Click to learn more about the
ergonomic tools)
USSI has also implemented an efficient method of managing the cleaning
process. Our Cleaning Specialists move through a building in an optimized, regimented fashion, each performing his or her own particular duty skillfully and with an eye towards safety. (Click to learn more about the
cleaning process.)
Finally, the first and last step of a true green process is in the training. USSI is dedicated to training all new personnel in the proper application of
cleaning methods, as well as retraining existing personnel if the
need arises. A combination of on-site and class-room training, as
well as vendor certification program ensures that only the best
trained personnel are available to deliver a high level of service.
In this way, we constantly stay up to date on new innovations. Whether technological, environmental, or organizational, USSI is dedicated to cleaning for health, to cleaning that goes beyond merely buying chemicals that have a green sticker, to cleaning that goes beyond all expectations.
This is cleaning—the one best way.
